Samsung might be working on a new Chromebook to succeed its Chromebook Pro flagship.
A few years ago, Samsung launched a Chromebook Pro and Plus series. These clamshells were its first Chromebooks purpose built to take advantage of Android apps with their touch screens and styluses. The firm has since then launched more than a few variants of the Chromebook Plus but has yet to relaunch the Chromebook Pro – its laptop for Very Serious People who want to get Real Work done.
The folks over at ChromeUnboxed have dug up news of a new Chromebook from ChromeOS repos. This device is currently codenamed Kohaku, and will be originating from Samsung on Intel’s Comet Lake platform. Not much else is known about it, so no specs or anything juicy like that.
Nonetheless, a Chromebook Pro successor would provide greater consumer choice, opening up premium end of the market beyond staples like Asus’ C434 flip Chromebook and Google’s Pixel series of laptops.
